今天來分享幾句第一季第三集＆第四集的英文佳句與單字片語

這句非常好笑，寫得好又有梗，是瘋狂追求女孩子的宅男Howard說的
1. Love is not a sprint. It's a marathon.
愛情不是短跑，而是馬拉松。
A relentless pursuit that only ends when she falls into your arms.....or hits you with the pepper spray.
是一場永不放棄的追逐，直到她終於投入你的懷抱....或是用防狼噴霧劑噴你。
2. I do feel obligated to point out to you that she did not reject you.
我還是有責任（義務）向你指出，他並沒有拒絕你。
3. And that's still good for you? Cause it's not carved in stone.
你確定你那時候還有空嗎？ 因為不是刻在石板上，不一定非得那時候去喔！
*good for you 平常常見的意思是「為你好」
e.g. Listen to me. It's good for you. 聽我的話，這是為了你好。
*carved in stone 刻在石板上，比喻不是絕對不能變動的。
4. Did I pluck a nerve there?
我是不是踩到地雷了？
5. I'm taking a sabbatical because I won't kowtow to mediocre minds.
我在休假，因為我不願向平庸之道屈服。
sabbatical (n.) 休假，公休 （=subbatical leave)
kowtow [ˋkaʊˋtaʊ] (v.) 叩頭，卑躬屈膝 (＊這個字念起來好難聽 哈）
mediocre (adj.) 普通的，平庸的6. So you got canned, huh?
所以你被開除了吼？
can (n.) 罐頭
(v.) （口語說法）開除，解雇

pitfalls. (n.) 陷阱；圈套 / 意想不到的困難
perspire (v.) 出汗，流汗；辛勞，苦幹
concussion (n.) 腦震盪
serape (n.) 披肩 （看圖片好像是指很大條的披襟，不能穿）
poncho (n.) 披風 （好像一定要可以套在身上的才能叫poncho)
不查還真的不太知道披肩跟披風的差別
